  • Short but sweet

Got an A on the math test yesterday!
Still not sure what to write the essay on but it's coming to me I feel it lurking in the depths of my mind lol
As for Sociology I am not sure what help I will be either. I am tackling it this weekend. I just have to hope for the best.

  • Still alive

Still alive just up to my ears in 2 essays due next week. One is worth 25% of my grade. Midterms the week after (ALREADY!).

I took my 2nd math test today. I am hoping for at least an A.

Got an A on my last essay.

Have any of you ever taken Sociology 101? (intro to sociology) Could probably use some help with that essay lol.. feedback anyway.

Well off to bed. School night and all. I am still reading you all, even if life is escaping us all at the moment.

  • Just checking in

    Busy in school.
Got a B on my first math exam which made me sad. It's still good but I wanted an A. I got what I deserved. Next time I will not rush through the test so quickly.
Have made the finishing touches to my first essay of the quarter I just have to apply those "finishing touches" to the computer copy. I feel like it is at least a B paper.
Sociology is interesting but being as it is primarily a lecture class I am finding it hard to stay awake all the time. I am thinking I need to start taking notes while reading in the text book. I worry that I am not grasping the concepts well enough to write three pages of an essay on it. However he is a very lenient grader so maybe I am being hard on myself. Only 4 things to hand in the entire quarter kind of nerve racking I would say.

I am undecided about summer quarter still. I am not sure I would be able to sit in a 3 hour math class 4 days a week. INSANE is what that is. However the pros would be
    - done in 8 weeks
    - last math class I require
    - see number one lol

    cons
    - 3 hrs of math nonstop may be really hard
    - it is even harder then what i am doing now.
    - worried about rushing through it in 8 wks
    - only class is in the after noons so would be hard to plan anything fun with family

Other than that life is continuing.
Need to go read a chapter of sociology now or regret it later. No so big on the regret of things lol.

How is life on your side of the screen?

  • Mr Rudy....

Just a quickie to let you know that he is still at the vet. Surgery went well but it is thier policy to keep them overnight. I am glad I would have worried about him here. We pick him up tomorrow as soon as they are done with my car at the shop. Finally getting that silly blinker fixed. By a pro this time. No more suckering me with the "hey my hubby is great with cars" and throwing money away just for it to not work. I can't wait for tomorrow to be over. All caught up on the homework front. Not that I have had time to get behind yet anyway lol.
Classes going well. I must get more sleep though on days when I have Soc 101. I found it very hard to focus and felt very drowsy for the first hour. When he gave us our break at the halfway point I made I point to get myself moving and good and cold so I would be more alert and it helped a lot. I think not eating is not helping either. I am used to having a quick snack before I leave and then I had an hour break at 9am that I don't have now. So I need to make use of that time so I am fully alert and ready to learn. I am finding lots of new connections this quarter from info I learned last quarter that I didn't think I would need again but am glad I listened the first time kind of thing lol.

Well off to bed. Been a long week, especially since I have had a major errand every day after school that normally waited for weekends. Not to mention Nina got sick (puking and all) at school this week which has kept her home the remainder of the week.
    TGIF tomorrow!

Update Friday 12:15 am (technically is Saturday but sue me lol)
Well it is finally Friday! I have a short paper to write this weekend. A chapter to read for Sociology and 3 sections of math to do. Plan to read the chapter for Soc while I wait for the MIL to do her shopping. She doesn't drive and it is very spendy to take a cab. So I thought I would be nice. Not sure what came over me, I know she doesn't like me, bad mouths me to our son but if it helps her out I am willing to overlook a few comments.

Rudy is home and doing very well. Sleepy but to be expected. You can tell he missed us to because he is not more then a few inches from me or hubby anytime.
Well here it is Friday night and I am pooped. Way to party it up I am headed to bed. LOL

  • Better late than never!

So let's see here. I spent the entirety of spring break sick. Well not the entire time. Part of that time I spent in Seattle with Nina. She was scheduled for surgery on the 30th but unfortunately came down sick the night before. That canceled surgery. Got home and I felt like death warmed over. I was coughing so hard that my ribs hurt and I could barely breathe. I am still not at 100% but I have managed to not miss any classes yet. The munchkin has not been so lucky. She came home from school today puking and with diarrhea. GREAT!! Just what we need. Other then still coughing (not as hard though thankfully) and a pretty fuckered up headache I am doing better. Of course I am doing my best to avoid mini me but that is a tad hard to do since I'm the momma.

The Hubby has so far other then a headache only gotten a miniature version of whatever I had. He in fact is all better now. I find this quite unfair.

In about 20 minutes our sweet little Rudy is going on a lil adventure that I am sure if he ever connects to me as being the mastermind of will make him hate me. That's right our lil boy is getting snipped. The Vet I use requires an overnight stay but since it isn't going to be done until tomorrow they are being kind enough to allow us to drop him off this afternoon since I have classes to early to get him there in the morning. They will also do his Rabies Vaccination. I will probably also ask them to care to his toenails. If any one has a doggy grooming book they would want to loan me I would appreciate it. Maybe I will go to the library.

I need to go sorry for the delay in blogging. Will update as soon as I can. I have sociology homework and math calling my name!
I am attaching a copy of my honor roll award for you all to see.

    PRESIDENTS LIST WINTER 2010 001

    Edit 4/7/10 @ 2:56PM
Just got home from dropping our lil man at the vet, he was a very good boy. I miss him already. The Vet is keeping him for the extra night for free! He said he was very impressed with how well behaved he was. After $186 he will be fixed, nails done, flea treated, Rabies vaccinated and a nifty lil tag that proves he has been vacinated. What a good lil boy. Will update as soon as I can.

  • One down many more to go...

    Quarters that is...

Well winter quarter is done, well technically. It is not officially done until after finals week which is next week. I have only one final to take *yay me!* That final is in math. So let's see the run down for the end of the quarter is below.

    English 75 (A+)
This has always been one of my more preferred classes. I have always enjoyed writing and so usually do well. Not to toot my own horn but I surprised myself. I have always had it in my head that I wanted to get an A in English. I never thought I would be the 3rd highest grade in class. Out of a possible 400 points for the quarter my final points totaled 421! I was only 2 points away from second place. After class the instructor pulled me to the side and told me she was impressed and that had I done all of the extra credit assignments (i skipped two of them) I would of been the highest grade in the class no doubt. I left English today feeling absolutely thrilled with myself. I had already taken the final in this class and gotten an A on it as well as an A+ on the final essay. So one class down two to go.

    College Success (A+)
This class was not hard but it was not my favorite class. I knew I was passing because like I said it was not hard, however there was a lot of homework in the class. Sometimes I felt a bit overwhelmed. The class actually ended a week early for which I was very grateful. In that particular class we had a final project called a Class Action Plan and exiting conference with an Assessment Paper also. It was a fairly involved assignment. Of course I got all the assignments done and went to my conference. I was completely unprepared for the conference outcome though. It was to be a 15 minute presentation over what I had learned over the quarter, how I had been applying those new skills in other classes and what I felt my weaknesses were still. I had to talk for 15 minutes which for me is a challenge all in itself. The conference was worth 80 points (which was about 20% of our grade) and I score 79 out of 80 of them. I talk to fast and get tongue tied. At the end of the conference she told me my grade was and had never fallen below a 98%. She then started to tell me that I could completely fail the final and still have an A. I was " oh that's kind of a relief" then she said " So why don't you just skip it altogether". I do believe you could of knocked me over with a feather. I was in shock and to be honest I still am. I was immediately over joyed that I didn't just slack off when the urge struck and with that class it struck, sometimes twice lol. She then told me that I had the highest grade in her class the entire quarter. I thought I was going to walk away with a B+ at the most because I had completely bottomed out on the last quiz we had taken. I took my grade from the 99.6 it was to a 97.9 to which she rounded to 98.

Math 91 *best for last right lol* (A)
This class scared me from day one! Absolutely no joke about it I was trembling in my sneakers. Math has always been a challenge for me, as with most of us in the class. I told hubby I would be tickled pink if I pulled at least a B out of it. I have not taken the final yet it is next week but I asked the instructor if I got a C on the final would it drop my grade and she said "Nope it would have to be a D before it would drop my grade". Well that isn't happening. I did my final math project and she absolutely LOVED it. I got an A+ on it. I know you are dying to know what I did so I will tell you. I made a crossword puzzle on the entire book (all ten chapters). Not only that but I put it on giant posters so that they could be seen in front of the class. It took me hours. I really thought I blew it on the last test, we all did and still i pulled an A on that. As it stand right now my grade is a good solid A. Out of a possible 700 points I have 689. Nothing to sneeze at for sure. This is the grade I am most proud of. I know I worked my butt off for it too lol. My final is Wednesday for this class. The final itself is worth 100 points and not much bigger then a normal exam. I plan to study for it like I do any other time except a bit each day. I will be ok I can do this!

    In other news:
So there it is. Looks like my goal of being on the Dean's list is going to be a reality. It feels absolutely awesome too I might add. Now I have basically other then that one day for the final no school until the 5th of April. That says nothing for the fact that I am still going to be very busy. Nina has to go to Seattle twice. On the 25th she has to go up for a preoperative appointment and then on the 30th she has to go up for the surgery. We are actually going up on the 29th by train and will be home the 30th late in the evening. She is having some teeth exposed that are buried by her gums on the sides and preparation for braces will be made. It baffles me how they can get braces in there but can't seem to fix her cleft palate. Which in my opinion would make her speech so much clearer, but then what do I know. I also have an appointment with our local community action council for free weatherizatlon of our home. It is funded by the state for families like ours that basically falls through the cracks on all other programs. We make to much for any "real help" but not enough to actually make it happen otherwise. They will be replacing every window in our place. Once that goes through I am going to be hitting my landlord up for a new front door. It pretty bad when your door is closed and you can still see daylight shining in where the door knob goes into the wood of the door, not to mention the 1/2 inch gap at the bottom of my door. The back door is fine. It will help make the new windows , which are supposed to be sound reducing and lower heating/cooling costs do their jobs better. Then it will be time to get a nice little air conditioner for in here since all the windows will work properly lol.

    Spring Break:

Other then the aforementioned plans I have not really gotten anything planned to be honest. I thought about going to the park at the lake a few times if the weather cooperates. I plan to flea bomb the house at some point since it is getting warmer and we finally seem to have the little buggers under control again. I plan to make my corned beef and cabbage at some point as well as a nice steak dinner. The biggest plan of all is really to just relax, help hubby with the house, play taxi cab for the family and make the best of it. I hope that it stays dry, warm not necessarily required but would be nice. We also hope to get our son at least once. That is a hit and a miss sometimes though.

Well I guess that about catches everyone up. The excitement that is my little world is about to shut down for the night. I hope this finds you all very ready for the weekend and healthy. Enjoy your weekend or spring breaks where ever you are!
Huggles from my side of the screen to yours!
